At Luma, we don’t just imagine this world—we’re building it.
Education shapes the future. It defines individuals, families, and entire nations. Yet, for millions of children, access to a world-class education feels like a distant dream. We believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
How did Luma begin?
Luma was born from a single belief: opportunity changes everything.
In South Africa, we’ve seen incredible progress. Many rural areas now have schools where there were none a generation ago. In places like rural KwaZulu-Natal, nearly every child attends school. Yet, a classroom isn’t enough on its own.
The challenge? Bridging the gap between having access to a school and having access to the kind of education that transforms lives.
Luma began with one question: How can we empower students, parents, and teachers to do more with what they already have? The answer lay in technology—a way to scale support, share knowledge, and unlock potential.
